Information: Time: Between 14h00 – 16h00! Gift Matjila is a
South-African born singer and songwriter from Pretoria. Gift discovered that he
had a talent for music and singing at an early age but decided to further his
studies and became the first person in his family to obtain a degree. Apart from
a promising music career, Gift works as an educator as he wants to be a role
model for young people. Gift decided to take up music again in 2016 and was
greatly influenced by Robbie Wessels and Spoegwolf. He was discovered by music
executives when he decided to play his guitar whilst taking part in a reality
show. His first single ‘’Ek staan by jou’’ was released as a prayer for
South-Africa’s farmers and became the official anthem of ‘’Droogtehulp.’’ His
second single ‘’Bloedbroers’’ is an ode to his best friend and anthem to
celebrate friendship in any shape and form. Gift has the ability to draw from
his own experiences to write his music and the results heartwarming honest and
unifying. He truly is a gift to Afrikaans music.
